Yorkshire Jets moved into second place in the Superleague table after a 58-49 win over Team Northumbria in Hull.

Jess Shaw was named player of the match after helping Anna Carter’s side to their fifth straight win, moving them above Surrey Storm, who are yet to play their round nine game.

After a sluggish start, the hosts gradually found their feet in the first quarter and opened up a three-point lead.

Jets duo Lauren Potter and Brie Grierson made way for Megan Clark and Nikala Smith in the second quarter, but Northumbria hit back strongly to tie the match at 27-27.

These changes were reversed after the break, with Potter and Grierson returning, and Yorkshire regained a four-point lead in the third quarter.

Into the final 15 minutes, the Jets piled on further goals to open up a commanding lead over the wilting home side.
