Luka Doncic hits halfcourt shot in Dallas Mavericks heavy loss to Brooklyn Nets
Tuesday 5 March 2019 06:39, UK
Luka Doncic beat the half-time buzzer from halfcourt but could not prevent the Dallas Mavericks falling to a heavy defeat against the Brooklyn Nets.
Doncic contributed 16 points on 6-of-16 shooting as the Mavericks were crushed 127-88 at the Barclays Center to fall to their biggest loss of the season.
Rookie-of-the-Year favourite Doncic provided one positive moment for Dallas on the stroke of half-time.
With the Mavericks trailing 65-44, Doncic dribbled towards halfcourt. As Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie retreated, the Slovenian rookie pulled up just inside his own half and fired a high-arcing jump shot with 2.9 seconds left on the clock.
Doncic's halfcourt heave found its mark, kissing off the backboard and dropping through Brooklyn's hoop to reduce the Mavericks' deficit to 20 points. However, there was no way back for Dallas in the second half.
