"Woo woo woo" - Ryder is the new No.1 contender

Zack Ryder secured a huge victory this week on ECW to become the number one contender to Christian's ECW championship. Earlier in the night, general manager Tiffany announced a 10-man Battle Royal, with the winner to be given number one contender status to the ECW championship. With the exception of William Regal, almost every superstar on the brand had the opportunity of taking one step closer to becoming the next ECW champion. In the end, the unpredictable match up came down to three superstars - Tommy Dreamer, Ryder and powerhouse Vladmir Kozlov. Kozlov looked the favourite, but failed in his attempts at eliminating Dreamer after the ECW original pulled down the top rope to eliminate the oncoming Russian. With Dreamer's back turned, Ryder capitalised and tossed him to the floor to become the new number one contender for ECW's top prize.

Undermined

At the top of the show, Regal accompanied by his associates Ezekiel Jackson and Kozlov took to the ring to confront general manager Tiffany over her decision to ban Jackson and Kozlov from ringside during the ECW championship match this past Sunday at Breaking Point. After her explanation of fair play, Tiffany then insisted Regal would not receive another opportunity to win Christian's ECW champonship and at short notice put the Brit in a match against The Hurricane, which Regal won after executing a brutal knee trembler to his opponent. Paul Burchill then took advantage of Regal's success and managed to exact revenge for his defeat last week by inflicting more damage on a beat down Hurricane. Ryder was also in singles action, squaring off against Yoshi Tatsu in what proved to be a very competitive contest. Both men had several opportunities to win the match but in the end it was fan favourite Tatsu who secured victory courtesy of a pinpoint kick to the head of Ryder. But it was Ryder who would go on to win the night's biggest prize. Just when will Zack Ryder get his chance to take on Christian for the gold? Do not miss ECW next Thursday night at 11.30pm exclusively on Sky Sports 3 and Sky Sports HD3.
