The Premier League returns this weekend and the battle for a place in next season's Champions League takes centre stage.

Manchester United are currently in that all-important fourth place, but everything could change on Sunday when Tottenham visit Old Trafford. Spurs are just three points behind Louis van Gaal’s troubled side and have avoided defeat in the last five meetings. Southampton also have dreams of dining with Europe’s elite, despite a recent dip in form. The Saints go to leaders Chelsea and could really mix things up with a win in Super Sunday’s first offering of the day.

Set your alarm clocks and rev your engines, the new season of Formula 1 gets underway in the early hours of Sunday morning. Lewis Hamilton begins his title defence at the Australian Grand Prix and his Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg remains the main rival for his crown. Former champ Sebastian Vettel races for Ferrari for the first time, leaving Daniel Ricciardo to spearhead Red Bull’s challenge and Jenson Button will put the new McLaren Honda through its paces when the lights go out at 5am UK time.

A Sky Sports Day Pass gives you unlimited access to all seven Sky Sports channels for 24 hours for just £6.99 on loads of devices with NOW TV. No contract.

It’s been said many times before that the Sky Bet Championship is the most competitive league around, but this season it's even closer than ever. The top four are all level on 66 points with Watford in third and Middlesbrough in fourth separated by just goals scored. Seventh-placed Ipswich are just five points adrift of leaders Bournemouth and the Tractor Boys go to promotion rivals Middlesbrough in FL72 Live at Saturday lunchtime.

The Premier League gap between Burnley and Manchester City is much bigger than that, but the Clarets will give everything they have to cause an upset when the reigning champions visit Turf Moor in our Saturday Night Football offering.

Barcelona and Real Madrid continue their La Liga title tussle this weekend and the Catalans will look to put even more pressure on faltering Real when they go to minnows Eibar. The live football continues well into Sunday even with everyone's new favourite league, MLS. Newcomers New York City look for their first win against last season’s beaten MLS Cup finalists New England Revolution, and the champions LA Galaxy go to Portland.

There’s plenty for fans of the oval ball to enjoy on Sky Sports this weekend too with England’s junior and women’s teams taking on their Scotland counterparts on Friday night. Saracens and Northampton continue their battle for domestic dominance in the LV= Cup on Saturday before Leicester and Exeter collide the following day.

A Sky Sports Week Pass gives you unlimited access to all seven Sky Sports channels for seven days for just £10.99 on loads of devices with NOW TV. No contract.
