Filippo Ganna has become Team Sky's second signing of the week on the same day fellow Italian Gianni Moscon took the lead at the Tour of Guangxi.

Ganna has put in a number of strong time-trialling performances this season, most recently finishing second behind Moscon in the Italian time-trial championship.

The 22-year-old has a strong background from the track, winning two individual pursuit world titles, and he is also a former winner of the U23 Paris-Roubaix classic.

Ganna, who has been with UAE-Team Emirates for the last two years, said: "It's a dream to sign for Team Sky. It's a very impressive team and everyone in cycling is used to seeing them winning the big races.

"For me, it's fantastic to move to a team like this and I hope I can continue to develop and improve on my first two years on the road. I'm excited to meet up with the team for the first training camp and to start to work together."

Earlier on Friday, Moscon had moved into the overall lead at the Tour of Guangxi with victory on the queen stage.

Moscon sprinted clear one kilometre from the summit finish in Nongla and claimed his fourth success in just over a month.

Felix Grossschartner of Bora-Hansgrohe finished second on the stage and is Moscon's closest pursuer - nine seconds behind - with two stages remaining.

Team Sky also completed the signing of exciting Ecuadorian talent Jhonatan Narvaez on Thursday.
