UFC: Michael Bisping confirmed as Glasgow headliner

Michael Bisping will fight Thales Leites in the main-event of the UFC's first trip to Scotland.

The Lancashire veteran hasn't competed in the UK in five years but makes his return as the Las Vegas-based MMA organisation makes its Glasgow debut on July 18.

The middleweight contender, currently ranked at No 9, will welcome the former world title challenger from Brazil, Leites, who is tenth in the 185 pounds pecking order.

Bisping, 36, has exchanged wins and losses in his last nine fights but most recently defeated CB Dollaway in April.

Leites, 33, has racked up five straight wins since returning to the UFC two years ago.

Meanwhile, Sunderland lightweight Ross Pearson will fight Evan Dunham in the co main-event in Glasgow. Pearson has been unable to string wins together since 2013 but this Scottish scrap represents a chance to build on his knockout of Sam Stout against Dunham, who recently ended a three-fight losing streak.
