Daniel Brooks, Raphael Jacquelin and Rikard Karlberg all secured qualification for next week's Open with a top-ten finish in the Scottish Open.

Brooks, who went in to the final round at Gullane with a one-shot lead, closed with a two-over 73 to end the week in a tie for seventh and book his first major appearance.

The 27-year-old had missed the cut in 13 consecutive events before finishing 20th in Paris last week, but Brooks secured his spot at St Andrews with a two-putt par at the last.

"Overall it's been a great week, I've played some lovely golf," the world No 528 said. "Not so much at the weekend, but I've scrambled like you would not believe over the last two days. To get the final spot for The Open, I'm over
the moon.

"It's been tough the last few months playing so bad. But the last few weeks have been great."

Jacquelin claimed a share of second place with Matt Kuchar, although the Frenchman only narrowly missed out on forcing eventual winner Rickie Fowler in to a play-off when his second shot at the 18th spun back to within inches of the pin.

"I played great and I'm very happy with my game," said Jacquelin, who himself had missed five straight cuts before last week's French Open. "The way I played the last three months was not very good so I'm very pleased with the second place, even if I was hoping to win the trophy.

"I tried my best and did pretty good at the end. I tried to hole that last shot. It was almost in. I gave everything."

Four birdies on the back nine from Karlberg saw the Swede break in to the top ten alongside fellow Open hopeful Y.E Yang, claiming the final spot ahead of the former PGA Champion due to being ranked higher in the world rankings.

Richie Ramsay, Kevin Streelman and Hiroshi Iwata are also in next week's field following Tim Clark, Chris Kirk and Alex Noren all withdrawing.
