1967 - Roberto De Vicenzo's historic win

Roberto de Vicenzo held off Jack Nicklaus to become the first - and so-far only - South American winner of The Open in 1967.
The Argentine beat Jack Nicklaus by two strokes at Royal Liverpool to claim his only Major victory after several years of near misses in the championship.
Aged 44, De Vicenzo also became the second oldest ever winner, 100 years after Tom Morris won at 46 in 1867.
De Vicenzo was eight under going into the final round at Hoylake, and hit a one-under 70 to beat defending champion Nicklaus by two strokes.
It looked nervy for him heading up the back nine, but two impressive birdies on the 14th and 16th set him up before he parred the final two holes for victory.
