The Dunhill Links is live on Sky Sports from Thursday at 1.30pm

Padraig Harrington is the star attraction at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship this weekend as he returns to the scene of his Open triumph. The Irishman plays in Europe for the first time since winning the Open at Carnoustie - which is one of three venues for this week's pro-am event. Kingsbarns and St Andrews are the other links courses in use, with the Old Course at St Andrews hosting Sunday's final round. Harrington is the defending champion, having seen off Bradley Dredge, Anthony Wall and Edward Loar by five strokes 12 months ago, and also won this event in 2002.

Formidable

It is a formidable links record for the man who leads the European Order of Merit going into the closing weeks of the season, bidding to become Europe's top earner for the second successive year. The top five in the Order of Merit standings are all in action, with Justin Rose, Ernie Els, Henrik Stenson and Niclas Fasth all looking to close the gap. Like Harrington, Stenson and Fasth are back in action after opting out of last weekend's Seve Trophy in order to rest after a hectic summer schedule. Three of Britain's sporting knights - Sir Ian Botham, Sir Bobby Charlton and Sir Steve Redgrave - are among the celebrities taking part in the pro-am. Actors Samuel L Jackson, Hugh Grant and Ray Romano, singer Ronan Keating, England cricket captain Michael Vaughan, tennis great Boris Becker, skiing legend Franz Klammer and Spanish model Ines Sastre - linked to Colin Montgomerie a few years ago - are also playing.
