Englishman announces temporary replacement for injured caddy

Lee Westwood has announced that Michael Waite will be his new caddy while regular bagman Billy Foster continues his recovery from injury. Westwood has been without the services of Foster for both the Wells Fargo Championship and the Players Championship after the caddy injured a knee in a charity football match. He is expected to be sidelined for at least another month and so Westwood has now made a temporary appointment as he prepares for one of the busiest parts of his schedule. New Zealander Waite - affectionately known as 'Sponge' - is an experienced campaigner and has worked with the likes of Ian Baker-Finch, Robert Allenby and Michael Campbell in the past. Indeed, he was on the bag of Campbell when the New Zealander produced his shock victory in the 2005 US Open at Pinehurst. Confirming his decision on Twitter, Westwood wrote: "My new caddie while billy is out injured is Michael Waite(sponge) . He's worked for Michael Campbell and Robert Allenby amongst others." He also confirmed his schedule for the next few months, adding: "I'll be playing BMW PGA , Sweden , US open, French open, Open , WGC Bridgestone and PGA. Run of big tournaments coming up."
