British Masters champion Matt Fitzpatrick has beaten off competition from Andy Sullivan and Justin Rose to be named as the Eurpoean Tour’s Golfer of the Month for October.
The 21-year-old, who has more top-10s on the European Tour this season than any other player, secured the award for his nerveless display at Woburn where he claimed a two-shot win for his first professional title.
Victory comes in Fitzpatrick's first full season on the European Tour and less than a year after turning professional, with the Sheffield star also posting a tied-third finish in Hong Kong during an eventful month.
"I've seen other players win the award throughout the season, so to have a trophy of my own is pretty special," Fitzpatrick said. "This is great."
"It's really nice to pick up any award, and whilst I can't say it's something I set my sights on winning, it's a very nice achievement.
"It was a very special week at the British Masters, getting my first win as a pro was amazing and then winning this award is a very nice bonus."
Sullivan took second spot after picking up a third win of the season with a convincing nine-shot win at the Portugal Masters, with Rose claiming third following his win at the regular season finale in Dubai.
The world No 51 is the 10th different winner in as many months, with Gary Stal, Anirban Lahiri, Richie Ramsay, Wu Ashun, Byeong Hun An, Alex Noren, Danny Willett, Shane Lowry and Lee Slattery all having claimed the title in 2015.
Fitzapatrick currently sits 15th in the Race to Dubai standings ahead of this week's season finale, live throughout the week on Sky Sports 4.
