Daniel Berger continued his adventurous rookie season on the PGA Tour continued at Bay Hill as he made the first albatross in the history of the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

The 21-year-old, who lost out to Padraig Harrington in a play-off at the Honda Classic earlier this month, needed only two blows to complete the par-five sixth hole on the third day at Bay Hill Country Club.

Daniel Berger holed a superb albatross during the third round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the first ever at Bay Hill.

After splitting the fairway with his drive, Berger smote a towering four-iron from 240 yards which cleared the water and landed softly on the front of the green before rolling straight into the centre of the cup for a spectacular two.

"I had 240 to the hole, a little right to left wind, just grabbed a four iron and hit an unbelievable shot," Berger told Sky Sports 4. "I didn't seem so excited after it went in because I wasn't sure if it went in or not but it was pretty special.

"It was cool but I had to calm down and get ready for the next hole."

The albatross was the first at the tournament since its inception in 1979, and Berger also eagled the par-five 16th before his fourth bogey of the day closed out an entertaining four-under 68 which also included three birdies.
