Chad Campbell fired a three-under-par 69 to clinch victory in the Viking Classic in Mississippi - his first win for almost two years.
The former Ryder Cup player began the day three shots behind the front-running David Branshaw, but was one of only four players to break 70 as his -13 total was enough to claim a fourth career win.
Birdies at 10 and 11 took him right into contention and with his rivals falling away, back-to-back birdies at 16 and 17 sealed victory with a dropped shoht at the final hole only affecting his margin of victory.
Shaun Micheel was Campbell closest pursuer heading to the 17th, but a double-bogey there ended the former USPGA champion's hopes.
Too much
Taking a lead into the final round for the first time was all too much for journeyman Branshaw, who had made just one bogey in the first three rounds but was three-over to the turn after a seven at the seventh.
A round of 75 saw him slip into a tie for fifth but a decent cheque will raise his chances of retaining his card for 2008.
Johnson Wagner had three birdies in the first four holes as six players led or shared the lead at one time - Wagner's birdie at the last took him into clear second place.
Boo Weekley and Bill Haas shared third place on -11 while Branshaw, Micheel and John Senden were a shot further back.
"I haven't won, it's been a while - almost two years now," said Campbell, who had slipped to 80th on the money list.
"It's definitely nice to be back in the winner's circle. Honestly, I didn't know how everything would hold up.
"I just trusted my golf swing and what I've been working on. It felt great."
