Sung Hyun Park opened up a two-shot lead after the re-arranged opening round of the Evian Championship, where Anna Nordqvist also started strongly.
Rain and strong winds on Thursday saw scores voided and the tournament reduced to 54 holes at the Evian Resort Golf Club, with conditions far friendly for Friday's action.
The Korean struck nine birdies on her way to an eight-under 63 and the early clubhouse target, with Moriya Jutanugarn birdieing her final hole to grab second spot ahead of Nordqvist and Katherine Kirk.
Beginning on the back nine, Park birdied two of her opening three holes and eagled the par-five 13th before adding gains at the 15th and 17th to reach the turn in 30.
Park rolled in from six feet to birdie the second but bogeyed the fourth after finding rough off the tee, only to bounce back by picking up a shot at the seventh and adding a two-putt gain at the ninth.
Nordqvist moved up the leaderboard with a blemish-free back nine to get to five under, with Kirk also mixing six birdies with a sole blemish to post a matching 66.
Georgia Hall leads the English interest and lies in the group on three under alongside Lydia Ko and former world No 1 Ai Miyazoto, who is making her final major appearance before retiring.
Dame Laura Davies posted four birdies in a six-hole stretch on her way to an opening-round 69, matched by USA Solheim Cup captain Juli Inkster, as Mel Reid birdied her final four holes to end the day on one under.
World No 1 So Yeon Ryu faces a battle to make the cut after bogeying her first three holes to card a four-over 75, with Charley Hull also in the group 12 strokes off the pace.
