Georgia Hall fired a five-under 67 to move top of the leaderboard at Kingsbarns

Georgia Hall is putting her thoughts about a Solheim Cup debut to one side after grabbing a share of the lead at the Ricoh Women’s British Open.

The 21-year-old followed up her opening-round 68 at Kingsbarns with a five-under 67 in good conditions on Friday morning, joining Lexi Thompson in setting the clubhouse target at nine under.

Hall currently tops the Solheim Cup points list and will represent Europe in Iowa later this month, having posted eight top-10s in her last nine starts on the Ladies European Tour.

The Bournemouth-based star has also impressed in America in recent months, with Hall focused on another strong showing this week before her maiden Solheim appearance.

"It's great that I've got to play quite a bit before the last two weeks here," Hall told Sky Sports. "I played well in America and I've putted really well the first two days here, which has been the key to my game so far.

"The Solheim has been a massive thing for me growing up and it's not far away now, so I'm going to think about that next week and just focus on the next two rounds."

Beginning the day four strokes off the pace, Hall surged up the leaderboard with four consecutive birdies from the second but slipped back with a blemish at the ninth.

Hall picked up a birdie at the 11th and added back-to-back gains from the 14th, before bogeying the par-four 16th after finding a pot bunker off the tee.

"It's a good feeling," Hall added after her round. "I was hoping the weather would be a bit easier this morning, which it was.

Hull posted a birdie-two at the seventh and added further gains at the 11th and 13th, before picking up another shot at the par-four 17th to get to six under.

"I'm quite pleased with it," Hull said. "I'm happy with the way I played today and still left a few out there, but it's not too bad.

"I'm not sure what the weather is going to be like, but I feel quite confident going into the weekend and I feel like that's a good place to be."
