Alvaro Quiros reclaimed his European Tour playing privileges with a dramatic play-off victory at the Rocco Forte Open.
The world No 703 let a seven-shot lead slip during the final round at Verdura Golf Club, with a two-over 73 seeing him finish alongside Zander Lombard on 14 under.
The pair returned to the 18th and exchanged pars at the first play-off hole before Lombard missed a short par-save putt at the next, leaving Quiros to tidy up and a first European Tour title since 2011.
Quiros took a five-stroke cushion into the final day but saw his advantage cut to four when Lombard opened with birdie, before the pair exchanged gains at the par-five next.
The Spaniard capitalised on a Lombard blemish at the fourth to birdie his next three holes and move seven clear, only for Lombard to close the cap with a birdie-two at the seventh.
Quiros dropped a shot after missing the eighth green and reached the turn four ahead, as Lombard cancelled out his birdie at the ninth with a bogey-five at the 11th.
A two-putt birdie at the 12th and another gain at the next moved Lombard within two of the lead, with the pair both bogeying the 15th to open the door for the chasing pack.
Lombard pulled into a share of the lead when Quiros double-bogeyed the 16th, before the pair both bogeyed the next to move Haotong Li and Pep Angles within one of the lead.
Angles bogeyed the last and Li finished in regulation to finish one stroke short, as Quiros produced a brilliant up-and-down to match Lombard's par at 18th to take the tournament to extra holes.
Li took third spot after firing an albatross at the par-five 12th on his way to a joint-low round-of-the-day 66, with Angles a further stroke back thanks to a two-under 69.
Australian pair Jason Scrivener and Marcus Fraser end the week in a share of fifth, while a final-round 79 saw former Masters champion Mike Weir finish bottom of the leaderboard.
