Andrew Johnston continued to enhance his popularity with the American fans, and even the US television commentators as he birdied the final two holes of his second round to make the cut at the Phoenix Open.
Beef, who opened with a 73 at TPC Scottsdale, looked to be heading for a weekend off when he bogeyed the first two holes on day two to slip to four over for the tournament.
The charismatic Englishman bounced back with birdies at the third, fourth and eighth holes, although his third bogey of the round at the 12th left him needing a big finish to make the cut.
Johnston gave himself a lifeline with a birdie at 14, and he missed a great chance from 10 feet at 16 before he atoned for a poor chip at the driveable par-four 17th with a 12-foot putt for a three.
Needing to birdie the last to sneak inside the cut line, Beef knocked a wedge to 15 feet and read the putt perfectly, the American commentators yelling "we want Beef" as his ball dropped in the centre of the cup.
Last year's Spanish Open champion signed for a 68 to close on one under and then joined Tim Barter at the Sky Cart to reflect on his round while describing how much he is enjoying his first experience of being a PGA Tour member.
