Golf in 2015: The year in numbers

We take a look at the stand-out figures from the 2015 golfing year across the spectrum.

ONE

Jordan Spieth, 22, and Lydia Ko, 18, both ended the year ranked No 1 in the world - the youngest combination in golf history. 

TWO

FedExCup Play-off wins for Jason Day, but it wasn't enough to stop Jordan Spieth lifting the overall title.

THREE (Good) 

Holes-in-one for Miguel Angel Jimenez on the European Tour in the season. The third, at the BMW PGA Championship, took him to 10 for his career - surpassing Colin Montgomerie at the top of the all-time list.

THREE (Bad) 

The number of times Tiger Woods failed to break 80 in a PGA Tour event. His 85 at the Memorial was the worst round of his career.

FOUR

The number of attempts Camilo Villegas needed to escape a bunker on the 12th hole at Chambers Bay during the US Open.

FIVE

Wins for Branden Grace at the Presidents Cup, out of five. Or five holes in one during the par-three contest at The Masters.

SIX 

Wins for Lydia Ko in 2015. Also the number of weeks missed by Rory McIlroy after he suffered his ankle injury in July.

SEVEN

First time winners on the LPGA Tour in 2015.

EIGHT

The number of times the world No 1 ranking changed hands between August and November. Also the number of singles matches won by the USA on the final day of the Solheim Cup.

NINE

The number of strokes Andy Sullivan won the Portugal Masters by; the largest winning margin of the European Tour season.

10 (Good) 

The number of top-10 finishes British Masters champion Matt Fitzpatrick posted during his rookie season on the European Tour, more than any other player.

10 (Bad) 

Martin Kaymer blew a 10-shot lead with 14 holes to play at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship. Gary Stal took advantage to win his maiden title.
