HIGHLIGHTS: USA secure thrilling Solheim Cup victory!

A look back at the best of the action from the Sunday singles as Team USA held off a final-day fightback from Team Europe to regain the Solheim Cup for the first time since 2017...

Golf to come live on Sky Sports

That's all from us at this year's Solheim Cup, but there's another great week of golf ahead of us live on Sky Sports, including the BMW Championship at Wentworth, with coverage of day one starting from 8.30am on Thursday.

USA secure Solheim Cup victory over Europe in final-day thriller

Team USA withstood a final-day fightback from Team Europe to claim a 15.5-12.5 victory and win the Solheim Cup for the first time since 2017, writes Sky Sports' Ali Stafford...

Stacy Lewis' side took a 10-6 advantage into the Sunday singles at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club, leaving them requiring just 4.5 points for victory, with Megan Khang, Allisen Corpuz and Rose Zhang all posting big wins to move them closer to their target.

Charley Hull led from the front to thrash world No 1 Nelly Korda and Georgia Hall also posted a big win to raise hopes of a historic European comeback, with seven matches left on the course either tied or in favour of Suzann Pettersen's side at that stage.

Celine Boutier and Leona Maguire won their matches to move Europe closer to the 14 points required to win for the fourth time in a row, only for Lilia Vu to secure the half-point needed for victory when she won her final two holes to tie against rookie Albane Valenzuela.

Emotional Reid 'so proud' of European team

Team Europe vice-captain, Mel Reid:

"The passion from these girls and the determination, I'm so proud of them today.

"We obviously left ourselves a lot of work to do. It's always easy to look back and say 'did we make mistakes?'

"I'm sure we did. We've got to own that and make sure we rectify for the next one.

"You put so much effort in and you want it so bad, because you know how hard these girls work.

"The Americans played better, at the end of the day - they do deserve it."

Davies: We took them to the brink

Vice-captain Dame Laura Davies...

"The Americans were excited on the first tee and we felt like they thought they had done the job.

"We thought we were within half a percent of a chance. We took them to the brink.

"If it wasn't for Lilia and what she did. I know Linn lost that match but things are different if it is still on the line at that stage.

"Even the ones who lost today, they did their part in the week.

"They did such a great job, it was brilliant.

"We were doing all the permutations. We never got past seven, we never dipped into those eight we needed.

"In the end we have come up two and a half points short.

"They did a great job and played unbelievable golf this year.

"The damage was definitely done day one.

"It is such a deficit and we couldn't quite claw it back.

"The Americans had great support. I must admit some of those cheers were getting me down but that is home advantage.

"This is what you live for to be involved with these young superstar golfers."

Matthew: US team seemed so together

Catriona Matthew on Team USA's victory...

"I felt that this team really seemed together, more than any American team I've seen before. That all starts from the captain and trickles down.

"The American are probably so used to being the favourites and winning, but the two losses and a tie forced them to change something.

"Plus her top three players all performed, Nelly Korda was a revelation this week, and Lilia Vu and Rose Zhang, plus the two rookies contributed points - and that's what you need if you're going to win."

The scores on the doors...

The moment they have waited for!

Time for the trophy lift...

The moment has arrived for Team USA.

Pettersen: We thought we could get it done

Team Europe captain, Suzann Pettersen:

"We gave them a run for their money. I don't think anyone expected us to be here at 2.30pm and still have a chance.

"It's kind of hard to believe. But I had fun today... it's always eciting on a Sunday.

"There were possibilites out there and several times we thought we could get it done.

"It came down to a couple of matches. I'm happy for [USA captain] Stacy... we'll come back very hungry."

Lewis: It was so stressful to watch

Team USA captain, Stacy Lewis:

"This is so cool. It was so stressful to watch, it was awful watching.

"I'm so proud of the players. It's amazing how these things come down to a half a point here and there, but fortunately this time we were on the right side of it.

"It really could have gone either way. It was crazy at the end how it all unfolded... I was just hoping and praying that it went our way.

"Lilia's finish there was unbelievable. That's what you expect from one of the best players in the world."

Team USA take it all in!

Khang: I proved something

Megan Khang on the win...

"Stacey told me that I was probably only going to be playing best ball because we have so many great ball strikers this week.

"I said I will do whatever for the team.

"She said prove me wrong and I like to think I did so.

"She put in a lot of work finding what the best pairings were."

Matthew: Redemption for Team USA

Catriona Matthew on Team USA's victory...

"At one point there was three tight matches out there and it could have tipped the European way.

"It was closer than the story reflects.

"This will be huge for them (Team USA).

"I know it was 14-14 in Spain last year but it probably felt like a loss to them after the start they had.

"This is redemption for Stacy Lewis and her team.

"There was a few jittery moments and I think that crowd just helps you over the line."

Sagstrom beats Schmelzel 1 UP

And, moments after Kupcho's point is added to the US tally, Sagstrom claims one last point for Europe.

It means the final score ends up 15.5-12.5 to the USA...

Kupcho beats Grant 2&1

Jennifer Kupcho clinches one final point for the USA, beating Linn Grant 2&1 in the final match.

WATCH: Vu wins Solheim Cup for USA!

Here's how the USA regained the Solheim Cup for the first time since 2017, courtesy of a half-point clinching birdie from Lilia Vu at the 18th...

Vu: I wanted to get something done

Lilia Vu, after her Solheim Cup-clinching tie for the USA:

"I can't even put it into words.

"I felt like I didn't do my part this week and I wanted to get something done.

"I somehow birdied 17 and then got it done on 18 to get the half point.

"On the 18th hole, in the middle of the fairway, I saw that we were at 14 [point] and I thought, 'I better birdie this'.

"You never know what can happen in singles, so we just played like we needed every point - every half point matters."

Korda: We have had a dream week

Nelly Korda on the victory...

"I feel a lot happier.

"It has been such an amazing week. We all bonded really well and it has been so much fun from the get go and the caddies.

"Honestly, a dream week.

"It has just been such an incredible week.

Sagstrom moves 1 UP with one to play

Sadly, this match, and the final one between Grant and Kupcho still out on the course, won't matter to the final result...

But, Sagstrom has still managed to turn at least one more match blue, going one up with one to play against Schmelezel.
