Home side record surprise win to aid their cause
Goals from Craig Curran and Gareth Edds helped Tranmere record a crucial 2-0 victory over Bristol Rovers in their bid to avoid relegation from League One.
The result saw Tranmere, who have now lost just one of their last seven games in all competitions, bounce back from last weekend's 3-0 defeat by Southampton in perfect style.
They opened the scoring after 29 minutes when Shaleum Logan set-up Curran to curl a shot into the top left-hand corner of Mikkel Andersen's goal.
Les Parry's men put the result beyond doubt in the second half when Zoumana Bakayogo's cross was flicked on by Ian Thomas-Moore for Edds to fire home.
Bristol Rovers' best chances fell to Mark Wright and Andrew Williams, but the duo were both denied by goalkeeper Luke Daniels.
