Port Vale extended their unbeaten run to 11 games after cruising past 10-man Stockport 5-0 at Edgeley Park.
High-flying Vale dominated the first half and went in at the break with a two-goal advantage. The visitors took the lead after 23 minutes as Justin Richards flicked on for Sean Rigg and the midfielder hooked home his fourth goal of the season from close range. Stockport skipper Paul Turnbull had to clear off the line from Adam Yates before Vale went two ahead two minutes before the break. Mansour Assoumani pulled back Justin Richards in the box and a penalty was awarded. The defender was red-carded and Marc Richards slotted home from the spot for his 13th of the season. Marc Richards doubled his penalty tally in the 61st minute when he netted again from the spot after Adam Griffin had felled Rigg. Stoppage time tap-ins from Justin Richards and substitute Jake Speight completed the rout.
