Shrews twice hit post but find no way through against Mariners
Shrewsbury's play-off challenge took another blow after being held to a goalless home draw against struggling Grimsby.
The result left the Shrews with only two wins in their last 13 games, while the Mariners have now gone 13 games without a win.
The home side almost took the lead after 11 minutes when Waide Fairhurst hit the post, while Nathan Elder then hit the other Grimsby post soon afterwards.
Visiting goalkeeper Nick Colgan was also at full stretch to punch away Jamie Devitt's free-kick.
But Shrewsbury goalkeeper David Button was also in action, saving brilliantly from Adam Proudlock who should have done better from eight yards soon after half-time.
Grimsby substitute Barry Conlon then shot wide of an open goal 15 minutes from the end after good work by Jean-Louis Akpa-Akpro.
