Charlton produced an impressive away display to run out 3-0 winners at Shrewsbury.
Goals from Lyle Taylor, Darren Pratley and Karlan Grant guided Lee Bowyer's fourth-placed side to victory.
Charlton broke the deadlock in the 26th minute as Taylor turned the ball home from close range after the home side were unable to clear a corner.
Shrewsbury had earlier gone close twice through Josh Laurent, with his second effort well saved by the feet of goalkeeper Dillon Phillips.
Charlton's Grant was twice denied by good stops from goalkeeper Steve Arnold before Phillips produced good saves to keep out shots from Fejiri Okenabirhie and Ryan Haynes.
Grant was denied by another excellent save from Arnold early in the second half before the visitors doubled their lead in the 54th minute as Pratley drove a fine shot from the edge of the penalty area into the top corner of the net.
Grant added Charlton's third from a 79th-minute penalty after he was brought down by Anthony Grant.
