Sub Marvin Morgan preserved Shrewsbury's unbeaten home record with a late equaliser in the 1-1 draw against former club Aldershot.
A goal down and a man down, following Dave McAllister's red card, promotion hopefuls Shrewsbury refused to admit defeat and Morgan earned them a point 12 minutes from time. Fed by Nicky Wroe, Morgan cut inside and fired a shot high into the net for his 11th goal of the season. Chances were in short supply during a tight first half. Josh Payne's early 20-yard free-kick was well saved by Shrewsbury keeper Chris Neal, diving low to his right, before Aldershot's top scorer Danny Hylton was unable to hit the target with a close-range header. Shrewsbury struggled to create opportunities, with visiting keeper Jamie Young only once seriously tested in the first period when he had to be alert to help a Mark Wright snap-shot from just outside the area around a post. The second half exploded into life five minutes in when Jermaine Grandison needlessly pushed Adam Mekki for a penalty, which was converted by Payne. Shrewsbury quickly found themselves down to 10 men when the on-loan McAllister was shown a straight red card after a challenge on Mekki. The prominent Mekki then set up Hylton to hit the bar before depleted Shrewsbury responded brightly to gain a hard-earned point.
