Eibar made light of Sevilla's hugely impressive home record to claim a 0-0 draw from their trip to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
Sevilla are unbeaten in front of their fans since March and had won nine of their 11 competitive matches on home soil this season - including scoring in every match - but they were unable to break down Eibar, who continue to impress in their debut season in the top flight.
Both sides had chances to score, while Sevilla staged a late assault on the visiting goal as they tried to snatch the winner, but in the end defences came out on top as the match finished 0-0.
Although Sevilla boast one of the best home records in La Liga - champions Atletico Madrid are the only other team yet to lose on their own turf this season - Eibar have proved to be far from pushovers on the road.
They had won two of their previous three away games in the league, downing Celta Vigo and Rayo Vallecano, and if Ander Capa's eighth-minute strike had gone in rather than be tipped over by Sevilla goalkeeper Antonio Beto, then another win might have been on the cards on Sunday.
Eibar had other opportunities as well, Derek Boateng testing Beto in the 40th minute and Raul Navas firing wide from range in the second half.
However, the majority of the attacking pressure unsurprisingly came from Sevilla as they sought the win that would see them close to within three points of second-placed Barcelona.
Visiting goalkeeper Xabier Irureta denied Ever Banega in both halves, while also keeping out Kevin Gameiro's shot and seeing Grzegorz Krychowiak fire over from close range at the start of the second period.
With time running out, Sevilla stepped up their bid for the winner and Stephane Mbia had a goal ruled out for offside against Carlos Bacca, who let the shot run through his legs.
Denis Suarez was twice off-target with further efforts from the hosts, as was Jose Antonio Reyes, before Mbia headed Sevilla's final chance wide in stoppage time as Eibar held on for a potentially valuable point that helps them consolidate their position in the top 10.
