Scunthorpe earned a first victory under caretaker manager Russ Wilcox as John McAtee's first-half strike gave them a 1-0 win against Cheltenham.
The Iron forward gambled on a long ball upfield from Levi Sutton before showing great composure to knock it around goalkeeper Owen Evans and roll home in the 17th minute.
It was one of few real chances at either end of the pitch in a game in which defences were largely on top.
Cheltenham had more of the ball in the opening half, but an effort from Alfie May that flew into the side-netting was their only real effort of the afternoon.
The second half was equally as tight, with Scunthorpe largely trying their luck from range in an attempt to kill the game off.
Abo Eisa was twice off target after cutting in from the left, Kevin Van Veen hooked an effort on the turn wide and goalscorer McAtee unleashed a 25-yard drive that was a couple of feet over the bar.
The closest either side came to adding to the scoring was 10 minutes from time, when Andy Butler's powerful back-post header from a corner was brilliantly kept out by Robins keeper Evans.
In the end, Scunthorpe did not need a second goal, surviving a late spell of visiting pressure to claim a first league win since New Year's Day.
