Rochdale 0-1 Bury: Shakers through in FA Cup
Sunday 6 December 2015 14:12, UK
Bury progressed to the FA Cup third round after a 1-0 away victory over local rivals Rochdale at Spotland.
Danny Rose's header on eight minutes was all that separated the two sides as the Shakers earned bragging rights over their north Manchester neighbours.
Bury looked threatening going forward from the off and they took an early lead when Rose headed home Chris Hussey's corner, before wheeling away in celebration in front of the jubilant travelling support.
Dale's 18-year-old midfielder James Hooper forced goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann to make a strong save on 11 minutes, while Joel Castro Pereira did well to deny Leon Clarke from six yards moments later.
After Peter Clarke's header was disallowed for Bury on 35 minutes, Dale looked the more lively side in attack but Keith Hill's men were unable to find the net. Ian Henderson saw his effort from close range palmed away, before the striker skipped past Nathan Cameron and tested Bachmann from the edge of the area shortly before the break.

Dale maintained their relentless pressure early in the second half with John O'Sullivan firing narrowly over, while Pereira fumbled Rose's powerful effort on 62 minutes - but the Manchester United loanee pounced on the loose ball quicker than lurking striker Clarke.
The tempo of the game decreased dramatically as the second half unfolded and while Clarke had the ball in the back of the net for Bury on 83 minutes, his effort was flagged for offside.
