Spillane header cancels out Wagner opener
Republic of Ireland Under 21s emerged with a creditable 1-1 draw from their friendly against Germany Under 21s.
Germany, who have qualified for this summer's European Championship in Sweden, took the lead in the 22nd minute when goalkeeper Shane Redmond fumbled Sandro Wagner's cross into his own net.
Don Givens' side responded well and equalised on 26 minutes thanks to Michael Spillane's header.
Both sides continued to create chances in an entertaining encounter but there was no change to the scoreline.
Republic can now look forward to their qualification campaign for the 2011 Championship.
