Real battered in Bernabeu mid-table Mallorca
Real Madrid suffered a bitter taste in the mouth as they slumped to a 3-1 home defeat to Real Mallorca on Sunday.
The Spanish giants were stripped of the Primera Liga title by Barcelona on Saturday but Juande Ramos' side had the chance to at least put on a show to the Bernabeu faithful in their final home game of the season.
Ramos, whose short-term contract as manager runs out at the end of the season, saw the hosts make the desired start when Gonzalo Higuain found the top corner in the 20th minute after heading in Rafael van der Vaart's free-kick.
But the home treat did not last long as the visitors drew level six minutes later when Juan Arango's left-footed shot found the back of the net.
The evening fixture was World Cup winner and former World Player of the Year Fabio Cannavaro's last game in front of the partisan Madrid crowd after agreeing to return to Juventus in the summer.
And the Italian stalwart was a helpless onlooker four minutes after being substituted as Cleber Santana gave Mallorca took the lead in the 59th minute before Alhassane Keita added a third in the 71st minute to compound the defeat.
