Craig Westcarr's strike guided Notts County to their first points of the season following a 1-0 home win over Dagenham.
The striker beat the offside trap and calmly slotted home following Ben Davies' perfectly weighted pass after 53 minutes. The former Kettering man almost added a second six minutes later, but Dagenham goalkeeper Tony Roberts reacted quickly to block his shot. Dagenham, who have yet to claim a point in England's third tier, may feel hard done by after enjoying the better of the chances in the first half. Josh Scott came close to breaking the deadlock after 24 minutes but his low hit was saved by the legs of goalkeeper Stuart Nelson. The Daggers went even closer 11 minutes later when Scott got the better of Mike Edwards, but the striker's effort came back off the inside of a post. But John Still's men were made to pay for their missed chances as Westcarr's cool finish handed the Magpies their first league win under manager Craig Short.
