Paul Mullin came off the bench to grab a valuable point for struggling Morecambe in an exciting 3-3 draw with Northampton.
John Johnson headed Northampton into a 14th minute lead from a Marcus Hall free kick, but Morecambe were back on level terms six minutes later when Kevan Hurst fired home in a crowded box. Kevin Thornton restored Northampton's lead five minutes after the restart, firing home after Leon McKenzie had robbed Andy Parish. However, Jimmy Spencer equalised in his 65th minute from a far post header after being picked out by Phil Jevons. Parish, though, then gave away a 71st minute penalty, which McKenzie converted only for Mullin to earn a point in the 88th minute when he bundled the ball home at the far post from Tony Capaldi's cross. And Mullin almost won it in stoppage time when he headed over from Hurst's corner.
