Jackson papers over cracks

Image: Simeon Jackson: Spared Coventry's blushes

Simeon Jackson came off the bench earn a 1-1 draw for Coventry when they looked set for a narrow defeat to Fleetwood on home soil.

City have still not won in the league at the Ricoh Arena since the end of October and Fleetwood looked destined to take all three points after they held on to an early lead until the 81st minute. After an even start the visitors took the lead in the 19th minute when Gareth Evans' cross from the left wing was headed into his own net by Coventry defender Andy Webster. The Sky Blues went close through Josh McQuoid, while Evans had chances to extend Fleetwood's lead. Teenager James Maddison was introduced as a second-half substitute for Coventry and helped them get on the front foot, but they struggled to find a way past a resolute Fleetwood defence. That was until the 81st minute when Matthew Pennington's cross was nodded down by Gary Madine and Canadian Jackson was on hand to divert the ball into the net at the back post to earn his side a draw.
