Done hat-trick sinks Rochdale

Stand-in striker Matt Done grabbed a hat-trick as Rochdale came from behind to thrash Crewe 5-2.

Keith Hill's side claimed their first win of the campaign despite suffering an early setback at Gresty Road when Marcus Haber drove in his debut goal for the Alex. But injury-hit Rochdale were unperturbed by that ninth-minute blow and Ian Henderson levelled by prodding home a cross from Jamie Allen in the 31st-minute. The experienced frontman then set up Done for his first by ferrying the ball across the six-yard box for the 26-year-old, who was last on the mark in March 2013 during a loan spell with Hibernian, to tap in three minutes before the break. Allen was the provider again when Done ran clear to fire home his side's third in the 52nd minute. And while Haber cut the deficit seven minutes later with his second goal, glanced home from Matt Tootle's cross, Dale's neat build-up play was too good for Crewe. Peter Vincenti drove a fourth through young keeper Ben Garratt's arms in the 63rd minute before Done completed his hat-trick when he raced clear on the left and finished with a cracking strike.
