During his time playing for Borussia Dortmund, Tomas Rosicky was attributed the nickname 'The Little Mozart' due to his exceptional ability to orchestrate a game from midfield. He was signed from Sparta Prague for a Bundesliga transfer record at the time, Rosicky went on to enjoy five seasons with Dortmund, where he won the Bundesliga title in his very first year. His vision and relentless energy are among his greatest assets and towards the end of his time in Germany his stock was at an all-time high. He found himself linked with the likes of Real Madrid, Chelsea and Arsenal as Dortmund looked set to cash in on their prize asset. In 2006, Arsenal snapped him up and presented him with the No.7 shirt. The year coincided with Rosicky replacing the retiring Pavel Nedved as Czech Republic captain. Having played at every youth level for his country and scoring a cracking goal at the 2006 World Cup, Rosicky took to the new role perfectly and led by example as the Czechs qualified for Euro 2008. The three-time Czech Footballer of the Year suffered an enormous blow before the competition, though, as a hamstring tendon injury ruled him out for the entire 2008/09 season. He would miss 18 months of action. His form since the injury has been rather sporadic but he was rejuvenated earlier this year when he inspired Arsenal to a 5-2 victory over Tottenham. In March, he was rewarded for his run of form with a new deal at Arsenal, with manager Arsene Wenger declaring: "I'm delighted (Tomas) has chosen to commit his future to the club." In May, he was appointed captain for Euro 2012 and after playing a key role in Arsenal finishing third in the Premier League, Rosicky will be hoping make up for lost time this summer.
