Irishman admits he is playing with no fear
Sunderland winger James McClean admits he has been surprised at how easily he has adapted to life in the Premier League.
The Irishman has impressed in recent weeks after getting a chance in the side under new Black Cats boss Martin O'Neill.
McClean was signed by former Sunderland boss Steve Bruce from Derry City and the 22-year-old has caught the eye since coming off the bench in O'Neill's first game in charge against Blackburn last month.
McClean started his first game in last weekend's win over Manchester City and went on to score his first goal for the club in Tuesday's impressive 4-1 win over Wigan, and the winger is delighted at how things are going for him.
"It's felt strange that I just seem to have adapted straight away to the Premier League," said McClean.
"I am playing with no fear and have great confidence in my own ability.
"It's been an unreal 48 hours for me. I knew I would have to wait for my chance but the aim was to get in as soon as possible.
"It's a great feeling, to receive praise, but I'm just playing my natural game.
"Growing up in Ireland, it's been drummed into me to try and beat the full-back and put in a cross."
