Both Aston Villa and Wolves are on a winning run and are set to contest an exciting game at Villa Park.
It's third against fourth at Villa Park in the lunchtime Saturday kick-off
Wolverhampton Wanderers fans would have been preparing for yet another season fighting for survival in the Premier League, but recent results mean that they will be backing their team to claim pole position instead when they travel to Aston Villa on Saturday.
Two wins out of two have placed Wolves level on points with Manchester United and Manchester City and have made them just one of three clubs in the English top flight to gain maximum points from the opening two rounds.
A victory over the Villans at Villa Park would see them go sole top temporarily and even though it is highly unlikely that they will be able to maintain that status as the season unfolds, for the Wolves fans that would be an achievement in itself.
Wolves commenced the 2011/12 campaign with a 2-1 away win against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park and followed that up with a strong and confident 2-0 defeat of Fulham at Molineux last weekend.
Mick McCarthy's side continued their roll in midweek when they hammered Northampton Town 4-0 in the Carling Cup and will be looking forward to their fourth competitive win in a row on Saturday.
Strong home form
However, Wolves should not get carried away especially as Alex McLeish's side too have made a positive start to the season.
Villa's opening league fixture ended in a goalless draw with Fulham at Craven Cottage but they comprehensively got the better of Blackburn 3-1 at home last weekend.
Then, like Wolves in midweek, Villa won their Carling Cup fixture - a 2-0 victory over Hereford United courtesy of goals from Eric Lichaj and Nathan Delfouneso in the final ten minutes.
Moreover, Villa have lost just one of their last ten Premier League matches and just one of their last nine fixtures at Villa Park which, incidentally, came against Wolves in March (1-0).
With just two points separating the teams, the encounter in Birmingham is poised to be an exciting one.
Team News
Wolves striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake is out with a ligament damage sustained during their midweek defeat of Northampton. Boss McCarthy has no other injury concerns.
Sam Vokes is the likely candidate to step up and provide cover for the Kevin Doyle-Steven Fletcher forward partnership as Wolves aim to maintain their 100 per cent start to the campaign.
McLeish too has no injury headache ahead of the encounter, and both managers are unlikely to change their respective teams from last weekend's matches.
