City midfielder believes Liverpool is perfect fixture to bounce back

Gareth Barry believes the Premier League clash with Liverpool on Saturday is the perfect game to get their campaign back on track. The Blues travel to Anfield having drawn their last five league matches with their last away win coming in August against Portsmouth. Back then Mark Hughes' men were being touted as possible title contenders never mind top four challengers with the 1-0 win at Fratton Park their third success in a row following an impressive start to the season. However despite the dip in form, with many beginning to write off City's chances of qualifying for next season's UEFA Champions League, Barry feels the team can heap more misery on Liverpool - who will be desperate for the win themselves having won just once in their last nine games in all competitions. "This run has been frustrating," he told the club's official website. "In at least two of the games we felt that we should have come away with all three points. "To concede late goals after you've been leading at home was incredibly disappointing, but hopefully Liverpool can be the perfect game for us to vent our frustrations and kick our season on again."

Inspiring atmosphere

Having failed to take maximum points off the likes of Birmingham, Burnley and Wigan in recent weeks Barry insists the players can rise to the occasion at Liverpool. "It's always great to play at Anfield," he added. "It's one of the best stadiums with one of the best atmospheres you're ever going to get at a football game. "It's always a very tough place to go, Liverpool at home are expected to do well so it will be tough for us, but we're expecting that. "You can't go to somewhere like Anfield with any fear, and with the players we have in our squad we should not do either. "We're the away team, so if we can get a result that would be a big bonus for us."
