Twente continue to lead the way, with PSV chasing hard

Steve McClaren's FC Twente remain top of the Eredivisie standings following another success on Saturday. Elsewhere, PSV Eindhoven stay in second spot and struggling Heerenveen's cause received a timely boost as they overcame 10-man ADO Den Haag. Twente continue to lead the way after they secured a 2-1 victory over Roda JC. Bryan Ruiz broke the deadlock with a sublime chip on 34 minutes and Slovakian star Miroslav Stoch added a second six minutes later. Jeanvion Yulu Matondo pulled one back for Roda early in the second half, but it was not enough. PSV Eindhoven remain two points off the pace at the top following a narrow 1-0 win over Vitesse Arnhem. Balazs Dzsudzsak bagged the only goal of the game, benefiting from a mistake by Vitesse keeper Piet Velthuizen to slot home in the 64th minute. PSV are now unbeaten in 19 matches in all competitions this season. Lowly Heerenveen claimed their third success of the season as they punished ADO Den Haag 3-0. Roy Beerens opened the scoring before Pascal Bosschaart saw red for Den Haag. The 10 men were always going to struggle to hang on and they were duly breached a further two times as Michal Papadopoulos hit a second half double. Champions AZ Alkmaar enjoyed a 1-0 win at Groningen as their inconsistent start continues. AZ laboured for much of the encounter but finally found a creative spark five minutes from time with 80th-minute substitute Jeremain Lens scoring a timely winner.
