Marcello Lippi insists he will not return to club management once he finishes with the Italy national side.

Italy coach has no interest in return to domestic game

Marcello Lippi insists he will not go back into club management once he parts ways with the Italian national side. The experienced coach is currently in his second spell in charge of the Azzurri, leading his homeland to 2006 World Cup glory during his first stint in the hot-seat. He was tempted back into the post last year, having initially stepped down from the role following the success in Germany. Lippi has enjoyed a distinguished coaching career to date, boasting the likes of Juventus, Napoli and Inter Milan on an impressive CV. He has, however, claimed that he could not be tempted to return to the stresses of life in charge of a club side once his days in the international arena are over. "I say this officially, after my experience with the national team you will never see me coach a club again," Lippi said. "In part it's because I couldn't be there answering the pundits' questions for half an hour after a match that has not gone well."

Health

While wanting to steer clear of domestic action, Lippi has given his opinion on the affect the global credit crunch has had on football at that level. He feels it has been positive for the game, helping to curb the extravagancies which had infiltrated the sport in recent times. "The economic crisis is hitting the world of football deeply," he added. "It's restoring its health, bringing its feet back on to the ground. "The economic crisis has brought out a desire in almost all managers to downsize this toy. As in Formula One, this resolution to reduce (costs) is extremely positive."
