Celtic boss Tony Mowbray claims he has been priced out of the race to sign Hamilton midfielder James McCarthy.
The Republic of Ireland Under 21 international looks set for a move to the English Premier League with Wolves and Wigan both agreeing fees with Accies.
Mowbray was another manager reported to be monitoring the situation, but has been put off by the figures which are being discussed.
When asked if the 18-year-old was on his radar, Mowbray replied: "No, I would suggest not with the numbers that have been bandied around at the moment."
Mowbray, however, will have the services next season of Landry N'Guemo who signed on a year-long loan from French club Nancy.
Celtic have the option of making the move permanent at the end of the season if the 23-year-old Cameroon international impresses.
"We are happy to have him on board," Mowbray said.
"He creates competition in a part of the field where we are a bit lighter than last year with Nakamura and Hartley moving on.
"I am looking forward to working with him and seeing how he gets on."
No preferences
Meanwhile, Mowbray remained positive after his side were handed a tricky UEFA Champions League third qualifying round draw against Russian side Dinamo Moscow.
Celtic Park will host the first leg on 28/29 July, with the return game played on 4/5 August.
"We are happy to take whoever it was and I don't have any preferences in cup draws," the Hoops boss said.
"We are not in the industry of making excuses. They are 13 games into their season and I'm sure they will be a quality side.
"Russian teams are very fit, methodical and organised and I'm sure they will give us a tough test but I'm sure they are looking at the draw and thinking it is a big ask for them
"In a strange sort of way, while you would like to play the second game of the tie at home, after the travelling we have done it is a benefit that we will be at home first."
