Striker eager to secure move back to Chester
Gregg Blundell says he has no intention of going back to Darlington and hopes to rejoin former club Chester City.
Darlington were forced to axe all but one member of their squad in early May, but are now eyeing a brighter future under new manager Colin Todd.
Experienced striker Blundell is on the look-out for a club and confirmed he has not discussed the possibility of a new deal at Darlington with Todd.
He insists he does not want to re-sign for the Quakers and is in talks to join Chester, who he left in January 2007 to move to the North East.
"Darlington told every player they were free to leave and I didn't hang around," Blundell told the Northern Echo. "I've not spoken to their new manager and I wouldn't go back even if they made me an offer. I'm now looking for a new challenge."
Chester have been relegated to the Blue Square Premier, but Blundell has held talks with manager Mark Wright, saying: "I'm hoping to have another chat with him next week.
"I'm keen to get back to the North West and start playing again, and it's probably a case of better the devil you know.
"I've got absolutely no problem about playing for Chester again because I enjoyed playing there last time and I know all about the way Mark Wright likes his teams to play."
