Grimsby stun high-flying Gillingham
Grimsby produced one of the shocks of the day as they moved out of the relegation zone with a 3-0 win over high-flying Gillingham.
The visitors went close early on through Simeon Jackson's drive, before the Mariners went ahead with 33 minutes gone through Jean Louis Akpa Akpro.
The striker was on-hand to tap home after Nick Heggarty's effort came back off the post, and the pair combined again for the second goal just shy of the hour.
Heggarty was the scorer this time, racing onto Akpro's through ball to comfortably beat Simon Royce.
Gillingham fought back and both Mark McCammon and Dennis Oli had efforts well saved by Wayne Henderson while Joe Widdowson headed a McCammon strike off the line.
But Grimsby survived and sealed the win in the last minute when on-loan striker Barry Conlon marked his debut by converting Adam Proudlock's cross.
