Spurs boss waxes lyrical over Keane return

Harry Redknapp has told Sky Sports News he is delighted to have brought Robbie Keane back to Tottenham. It has been a busy transfer window for the Spurs boss with five key signings including three former White Hart Lane performers. Pascal Chimbonda and Jermaine Defoe have rejoined the London outfit in January and now Keane has followed suit on deadline day, rejoining the club he only left six-months ago. Redknapp has added Wilson Palacios and Carlo Cudicini to his ranks too and the Spurs boss was keen to talk about his first transfer window at the club. "I think they are all terrific signings for the club and I think Robbie Keane is a fantastic player," Redknapp told Sky Sports News . On the three ex-Spurs players returning to the capital Redknapp added: "For me they were all good players and they were players that the chairman didn't want to lose in the first place and he fought hard to keep and he's fought even harder now to now bring back." Keane has moved back to White Hart Lane in a deal in the region of £15 million following his torrid time at Anfield under Rafa Benitez. The 28-year-old Irishman has already declared his intent to prove himself back at the club where he will look to add to the 80 goals he already scored and his new boss believes he can regain his hero status amongst Spurs fans.

Enthusiasm

"I think he will make a massive impact. He's not only a good player - his enthusiasm for the game, the character in the dressing room around the place," Redknapp said. "He's a boy who wants to win at whatever he does and I think that rubs off on people and you need that at your club and I think he'll bring so much to us. "He's full of energy and every time he puts his shirt on he goes out and gives everything he's got and add to the fantastic ability he's got that's why he's such a good player in my opinion." Keane could make his second debut against arch-rivals Arsenal next Sunday, which is live on Sky Sports 1 and HD 1, and Redknapp believes the striker's arrival is just the boost the club needed after the 3-2 defeat to Bolton on Saturday. "(It's a) massive game at home to Arsenal on Sunday, great game to look forward to...now with Robbie coming it's the icing on the cake," Redknapp added. "We've lost Jermaine Defoe, unfortunately he's going to be out quite a while it seems so it's important that we've got Robbie, Darren Bent, [Roman]Pavlyuchenko, Frasier Campbell we've got good strikers and Robbie will add to that strength."
