Man City have not shown an interest in midfielder

Roma have rubbished reports that Manchester City have made an approach for midfielder Daniele De Rossi. City are thought to be close to completing a world-record deal for AC Milan star Kaka, while they have also been linked to Newcastle goalkeeper Shay Given and Blackburn striker Roque Santa Cruz. And speculation has suggested that Eastlands boss Hughes is also tracking De Rossi, who signed a four-year contract extension with Roma in the summer. However, Stadio Olimpico official Bruno Conti has told Corriere dello Sport: "We have had no request from Manchester City. This is unfounded speculation." Conti has confirmed Real Madrid have made enquiries, but insists Roma are not looking to sell De Rossi. "In the last few months there had been an interest from Real Madrid. We have no intention to sell De Rossi. He is a part of our plan."
