Arsenal get their UEFA Champions League campaign under way with an encounter against Dynamo Kiev at Lobanovsky Dynamo Stadium on Wednesday evening.
The Gunners head into the contest in impressive fettle having recorded three consecutive victories, scoring 11 goals in the process and not conceding.
Arsene Wenger's side, who were runners-up in Europe's elite tournament in 2006, comfortably progressed from the group stages last year but were knocked out in the quarter-finals after a dramatic tie versus Liverpool.
They secured their place in this campaign's competition after disposing of Steve McClaren's FC Twente in the third qualifying round and, as well as Dynamo Kiev, face Portuguese outfit Porto and Turkish side Fenerbahce in Group G.
Dynamo Kiev - who have defeated the Gunners twice in the Champions League, in 1998 and 2003 - recorded an 8-2 aggregate success over Spartak Moscow during their passage to the group stages after they finished second in the Ukrainian Premier League last campaign.
Strengths and weaknesses
Head coach Yury Semin must do without the suspended defender Badr El Kaddouri for the contest, but is looking forward to the challenge of facing Wenger's troops.
The Russian said on
Uefa's official website: "Europe's top club competition is back. We have been looking forward to it and dreaming about it. Judging by our recent performances I can say we are ready.
"If I definitely knew how to beat Arsenal then I would be a magician. But I know that if we focus on our own game and play to our potential, we stand a good chance.
"The game will show what are our strengths and our weaknesses. We have many strong points and now it is important to put them into practice."
Arsenal have Samir Nasri and Mikael Silvestre unavailable through injury, however Emmanuel Eboue and Gael Clichy have both been declared fit after the duo had picked up knocks in Saturday's 4-0 win at Blackburn.
Mexico forward Carlos Vela has also been included in the squad with Wenger likely to slightly rotate his starting XI as his men embark on their second of three successive away fixtures.
