Striker turned down southern offer for Deepdale move
Preston have completed the permanent signing of Jon Parkin from Stoke City.
The striker joined Preston on an emergency loan at the weekend and made his debut in the 2-1 victory over Charlton on Saturday ahead of a full-time switch.
And having now agreed a three-year deal at Deepdale, Parkin has revealed he turned down the opportunity to move to a club in the south in order to join Preston.
Parkin has pointed to the potential at Preston as his reason for agreeing a long-term stay with Alan Irvine's men.
Delight
"Obviously I'm delighted with the move," he told Preston's official website. "I spoke to the manager and he sold the club to me.
"Once the manager told me what he wanted to do here, the decision was pretty easy.
"I had the chance to go to a club down south, but Preston appealed to me much more.
"Everything is geared up for a Premier League football club here."
