Kenny Miller and Gary Holt are among four candidates understood to have been interviewed for the managerial vacancy at newly promoted Livingston, according to Sky sources.
Miller, who left Rangers in the summer, has expressed a desire to continue his playing career with reports suggesting Aberdeen are interested in signing the forward.
Livingston are seeking a replacement for David Hopkin who left after taking them through the play-offs, beating Dundee United and Partick Thistle in May.
Holt managed Falkirk during the 2014-14 season and left his role to take up the assistant manager position at Norwich.
The 45-year-old left the club by mutual consent after the 2015-16 season.
Assistant manager David Martindale is currently overseeing pre-season training and it is understood an appointment could be made before the weekend.
Livingston, who managed back-to-back promotions, are back in the Scottish Premiership for the first time since 2005/06 season
