Saints chairman criticises Lowe and Wilde
Southampton chairman Leon Crouch has hit out at Rupert Lowe and Michael Wilde as they prepare a takeover of the club.
Lowe and fellow ex-chairman Wilde have called for an Extraordinary General Meeting, which will be held on 16th May with a view to removing Crouch and most of the board.
Lowe and Wilde are expected to complete a successful return to St Mary's as they control 46% of the shares, but Crouch is adamant that such a development would be bad for the club.
Crouch is in talks with other investors and Lowe and Wilde have agreed to sell their shares and stand aside, if a takeover can be agreed quickly with a different party.
Crouch is determined to keep out the duo, telling the
Daily Star: "The fans do not want this to happen. If they return, it will divide the staff at St Mary's.
"As for Wilde, what will he give that he didn't have 18 months ago? If these two come back it will be an alliance made in hell.
"We have been talking to very serious investors for the past three months.
"Lowe and Wilde know that, and they are prepared to sell their shares to the investors if it goes ahead - but they expect me to go by Friday.
"Well I can tell them that on that date, I shall still be sitting in my office at St Mary's conducting business as usual."
