Gers and United meet in Hampden showpiece

Rangers and Dundee United contest the first piece of silverware in Scotland this weekend in the CIS Cup final. The Gers, who are still battling on four fronts for glory, will be aiming to secure their first trophy success of the season at Hampden Park. Rangers boss Walter Smith will have to make changes to his side as Nacho Novo and Charlie Adam are ruled out through suspension. Steven Naismith is cup-tied after playing for Kilmarnock earlier in the competition and Daniel Cousin is sidelined with a broken jaw. French striker Jean-Claude Darcheville is expected to play after missing the last few games with an Achilles problem. Dundee United go into the game buoyed by the midweek draw with Rangers' Old Firm rivals Celtic. Lee Wilkie is set to shake off a cold to take his place in the heart of United's defence. United boss Craig Levein is without cup-tied trio Jim O'Brien, Danny Grainger and Danny Swanson. Long-term injury victims Jon Daly, Steven Robb and Keith Watson are all still sidelined.
