Vergoossen feels Uefa clash rivals Champions League fixtures

Sef Vergoossen believes that PSV Eindhoven's showdown against Tottenham is a heavyweight European clash. The two sides will meet in the second leg of their Uefa Cup last-16 tie at the Philips Stadion on Wednesday, with the Dutch league leaders holding a slender 1-0 advantage from the first encounter. PSV dropped into the competition after failing to progress through the group stages of the UEFA Champions League, but their coach Vergoossen feels that the meeting with Spurs has all the credentials to rival a fixture in Europe's premier club tournament. "When we played at Tottenham in that atmosphere it had exactly the same feeling as the Champions League," he said. "It was also the feeling looking at the quality of players."

Intentions

Vergoossen has also warned his players from sitting back and trying to defend their narrow advantage over Juande Ramos' side. "It would not be clever to start a game thinking that a draw is enough for us," he said. "I know for sure that a mentality like that would be a big problem for us. "We have to play the same way, with the intention to score."
